Below is a selection of our favourite things to do in Whitstable. For more ideas, see the blog page.

Why Whitstable?

Whitstable is a charming seaside town awash with boutiques, art galleries and nationally acclaimed restaurants.  There are local shops specialising in everything from cheese to cupcakes, as well as delicatessens and local butchers, bakers and greengrocers.

The town has a picturesque working harbour that supplies many of the local restaurants.  Fish, fresh off the boats can be bought in the harbour markets, including the famous Whitstable Oysters. Food lovers can enjoy the wide range of restaurants and pubs that Whitstable has to offer. Or why not pick up fish and chips to eat on the beach wall watching the sunset?

There's lots to do in and around Whitstable for all ages and interests. The town is perfect for a wide range of water sports. Take sailing, windsurfing or kite surfing lessons, try out waterskiing or go for a day trip on an original Thames barge. On land there are lovely coastal walks from Seasalter to Reculver, passing the stunning cliff top lawns of Tankerton slopes and the miles of pebble beaches lined with traditional painted beach huts. Or hire bikes and cycle the Crab and Winkle way to Canterbury, the route of the third railway ever to be built.
